“A vineyard in Aike? No certainly not”

Mon Oct 17th at 2:45 PM
“A vineyard in Aike? No certainly not” one of the many phrases we hear from people we meet when discussing our wine. We thought this year we would push the boat out and let people in the area know just who we are and how we make English Wine, right here in Yorkshire.

Where to start… local food and drink festivals! The ideal place to begin, seeing people who are passionate about produce from the surrounding areas. Cottingham Food and Drink Festival welcomed us with open arms and what an amazing event. With some of the best chefs in our area wanting to use our wine to cook with and sample, chef Brian Turner was more happy to tell the public who we are.
We had a very successful day, despite Rebekah being so nervous that she didn’t eat all day. This event really showed us that people are interested in English Wine and how here in East Yorkshire award winning wine can be produced. With many people pleasantly surprised by how “lovely the wine tastes,” even if we’re not in France.

The Yorkshire sunshine has served us well this year with both the Cottingham and Beverley Food Festivals being covered in warm rays. The Beverley Food Festival really has people intrigued find our more about the vineyard which was so close to home and wondering “do they really grow grapes this far north?” With the help of Adrian, Ann, Ian and Jonathan on hand no queries were left unanswered, also providing an answer to the big question of the day “yes we do really have a vineyard in Aike!” A big thank you to everyone who came and supported us!
